A Couples Staycation in Austin at the Hilton Canopy Downtown

Are you still a little shy about travel? What about a staycation in your own city?

This month, my husband and I decided to celebrate our one year anniversary by getting out of the house, but staying close to home with a fun weekend downtown.

When we began to look into places to stay, the Canopy Hilton Downtown (604 W 6th St, Austin, TX 78701) seemed like the best choice for us! It was beautiful, had the amenities that we needed but the best thing? It was right in the heart of the action!

What my husband didn't know? Is that I was working with the staff to set up a special surprise for him.

Located in the happening West 6th street area, Canopy is tucked right next to bars, clubs and entertainment which are perfect if you're looking to have a very active weekend. This hotel is adorned with beautiful concrete and modern details like iron staircases, reading nooks, abstract art and stunning greenery.

We were particularly taken by the lush courtyard of their restaurant, Verbena, and the fountains and vines it showcased.

Our room was the perfect size for two of us and it included a chaise lounge, a separated bathroom/wardrobe and a significant patio overlooking the action down below.

For us, we wanted to hear the music and be close, but note that if you're sensitive to noise, you'll want to prepare for that!

Each room came with coffee, tea and a plush bed that had us sleeping like babies after wandering around town to places like Lake Austin and the farmers market. It was so nice not needing to worry about parking a car moving around from spot-to-spot and being so close to all of the things we were interested in.

Here are a few places to check out nearby:

Verbena restaurant for dinner

Irenes for Brunch

Punch Bowl Social for bowling and games

Juan Pelota for coffee

Weekend downtown farmers market

Devil May Care for a speakeasy feel
